Here is an attack ad that is airing with regards to the special election in CA-36
I must say: WHAT THE FLYING FUCK??
I understand that in many elections people vote AGAINST a candidate and not FOR a candidate, but holy fucking shit. This is what people want their political discourse to consist of?
Aside from making shit up, the ad is sexist and racist. It's playing off the very worst in humanity. It's playing off prejudice and fear. And if their message was so totally honest, why wouldn't it be backed by the candidate. Oh right, the above video is a shit-show that no candidate would want anywhere near their name.
So, do you think the republican in this race should repudiate the ad?
Should the people who put this ad out feel shame and remorse for being such terrible people?
Am I being overly PC when I claim the video is sexist and racist?
What are your thoughts, oh great hivemind of the interwebs?
(and for some levity, i wish there were more political ads that went something like this)

Date: 15/6/11 21:52 (UTC)So, where is the "making shit up" part? And it's not backed by the candidate because it's some person making a video. Why would it need to be backed by the candidate? In addition, campaign laws encourage it not to be, so that's a strawman on your part.
As for the content of the video, it's piss-poor, sure, but it certainly seems to be effective at getting people to watch it.
