Sigh........the same Ultra-Orthodox Jewish newspaper that airbrushed Israeli *women* politicians has now done this to Hillary Clinton, claiming with a straight face that she's too sexually suggestive to accept in the photograph. I mean no disparagement to Secretary of State Clinton's political skills to note that she's well past the age where she could be considered this save to a certain few:

Maybe it's just me and my admitted distaste for women politicians as sex symbols (face it, when Palin's what people define as attractive, the USA's no Italy), but even Sarah Palin's photos don't meet standards of sexually suggestive photographs. But this is the magazine which also refused to run photographs of Tzipi Livni in the Israeli elections last year (I imagine if Clinton and Livni are sexually suggestive, that someone like Natalie Portman or Bar Refaeli would induce heart attacks in these same people). Forgive me if I sound a bit more like the Ameriright members of the community here, but if people can't man up and get with the 21st Century and accept photographs of women on the cover of their magazines, they've no business being in marketing. Unfortunately these are also the same assclowns who hate the Israeli state, see it as an abomination.....and never hesitate to accept their monthly welfare checks from Satan's state.
The photograph, I might note, is the one mentioned in a previous thread about how Hillary was "excessively emotional." Which leads me to ask a question that's been bugging me for a while: what does Hillary Clinton do to send people in that kind of hysterical reaction about her hand being over her face? I mean she's an extremely effective Democratic politician, but it's not quite clear to me how *that* turns into the assclownery that greets a lot of her actions as Secretary of State.

I guess they don't care for Italian politics at all, eh?

Date: 9/5/11 16:23 (UTC)I've never seen what makes Sarah Palin attractive, honestly. She's a woman who's really non-descript in terms of looks, not a stunner. After five kids that'd be hard for any woman to remain as if she started out as one, really.

Date: 9/5/11 16:21 (UTC)As far as the emotionalism of her holding her hand over her mouth. No clue, I never saw that referenced here so I'm not really sure how widespread that "analysis" was. Personally I just thought she was stifling a yawn. Even if it was some kind of emotional reaction to a tense situation I really don't see anything to complain about. I mean her reaction is a hell of a lot better than Biden's "Isn't Tony Stark in this movie" act and no worse than Obama's edge of his seat intent stare.

Date: 9/5/11 19:51 (UTC)I remember being in Israel, and there was this woman running for Knesset, and religious newspapers had to publish a photo of all the members (or then-candidates?) standing together. The papers erased that woman from the photo, cropped out a guy who stood at one of the edges, and inserted him in her place.
Tzniut is a bitch.

Date: 9/5/11 23:59 (UTC)Not only did they edit Clinton out, they also removed Audrey Tomason (national director of counter-terrorism). If they have a problem with even showing women in photographs, how can they have women as part of their religion?
Oh yeah...they gotta get money from SOMEWHERE. (That remark has nothing to do with the Jewish people. I've had a problem with organized religion in general since 1997 when our church sent my mother a letter saying she wasn't tithing enough according to her tax bracket. I wish I were kidding, but I'm not.)
