And as I said below, FDR is a problematic choice if we're discussing "blind adoration" (something I never mentioned in the first place), since he was a WWII prez, and there was a very particular patriotic and communal time going on in the US after Pearl Harbor and for many years to come. FDR was viewed in a special way regardless of party.
As to not start a big unnecessary discussion here: this does *not* in any way put him above any form of criticism, bur it does make him a problematic choice when comparing him to other idolized politicians.
