Very true ; but until ppl realize by themselves on a very deep and integrated level that those emotions of theirs are exactly that--emotions of theirs, to indulge, bend/redirect, or ignore as they please--they are set in stone. Because ppl think they are, or rather, have never learned to think otherwise.

I think more than bandying around the question of how modifiable emotions are a more valuable question would be : how do we come to the conclusion that they, or at least our reactions to them, are [modifiable/voluntary]?

Not being argumentative, here, just trying to contribute to what looks like a productive exchange. (Glad I could have the pleasure of reading it!)
