Calif. campaign watchdog eyes new Internet rules

The Fair Political Practices Commission is considering how to regulate new forms of political activity such as appeals on a voter's Facebook page or in a text message.

This is Bull Shit. Is anybody watching your actual liberties go away? Are you paying attention? Does anyone understand the concept of "make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech"? Is this one clear enough for even you Progressives to understand how far down the slippery slope we're going?

they usually appear blue on the screen on my computer and take you to an independent scource or the original document.
I will go back and look, but without the original wording, I can't really see if this is just a suggestion , or a definite proposal. Nor can we see how they propose to implement this.

Sure, I agree that anything that limits the freedom to speak on the internet is usually a bad idea - but do I want people to be able to make an OP on ' how to make a nail bomb' posting to this community?
Do I want someone to be able to post the names of anyone helping UK/US Forces in afghanistan on the internet for taliban guys to read it?

No. There are sane and sensible limits, and if anyone is going to limit what I say to you , or you say to me, I want to know exactly what they propose and why.

Very few would be allowed to say anything if they had to stick to the facts and declare why they were actually going to do something.

Even worse if they had to decale every penny they got and from whom.

One of the reasons that the Green Party has to hold jumble sales so often is that big oil companies won't put any big money our way. I wonder why?
