The drawings have made the rift wider and I think all parties involved are worse off for it. The drawings didn't convince a single Muslim to change their mind about the matter, they didn't make the idiots who want to be violent feel like violence was not called for, and in fact more people are no alienated than ever.
In addition those who participated in the event have eared the contempt of people like me who aren't even member of the religion.
And now such drawings are more politicized than ever.
It has been a horrible train wreck. No one is winning.
