Incredibly bad:
It took just 11-12 years to add another billion, that's 85 million more per year.
Never has the speed of population increase been so high as in the past decade and Africans are still reproducing at 3% or more.
We must get population increases under control and aim for a declining one, otherwise the consumption will kill the planet and its biosphere.
I extend my deepest sympathies to those newly arrived human beings. Their lives will be marked by illness, grief, injustice, and loneliness. I hope that more people will contribute to Family Planning and -- if necessary -- the Pro-Choice movement.
And to all pro-Trumpist fundies, I'll just say this. Advocating the use of more contraceptives is NOT genocide.
But US Evangelical groups are urging Africans to not use condoms etc - which is why birth rates in many African countries remain very high.
And it's not just US Evangelical groups, it's also the culture and traditions in general (large families are wanted) and Muslim extremists are also doing their thing (like the Christian Taliban from the US) to keep birth rates high.
The thing is that contraception must be advanced by a lot, but even more so education for African girls and women. Studies show that the higher the education, the fewer births an African woman will have.
