For 4 years McConnell was Trump's enabler-in-chief and biggest protector. In exchange for a cabinet position for his wife and high-level jobs for other family members, McConnell kept Trump safe from any kind of Senate oversight or investigations, and ultimately from conviction in 2 impeachments. "Emoluments violations by you and your family? Don't worry Sir, the Senate will not come after you."

But now that McConnell can no longer protect Trump, The Donald can't throw him under the bus fast enough. Plus, McConnell had the gall to suggest that Joe Biden might actually have won the election. So now we have this:

Reminds me of a friend's ex wife. It took him a while to figure out why they seemed to "lose touch" with so many friends after a while. He finally realized that, like Trump, she was only interested in being friends as long as that friendship had some benefit, real or perceived, to her. As soon as they were no longer useful in some manner, the least that would happen is what we now call ghosting, she'd just stop communicating with them. If you really "failed" her in some manner, holy shit, she'd trash them to anyone and everyone that would listen.

Trump is the same way, only on steroids. You're either a total fawning sycophant, or you're the enemy.

I don't know why anyone, that is anyone at all, would ever align themselves with Trump. It's a one way trip.
