Ron DeSantis to Joe Biden: No FEMA vaccine ‘camps’
Gov. Ron DeSantis is pooh-poohing President-elect Joe Biden‘s plan to tap FEMA to bring vaccines to local pharmacies.
Camps? The Feds offered help getting more people vaccinated in pharmacies. This guy turned out to be a big disappointment in Florida. He started off good, but then became a mini-Trump, trying to mimic Trump at every turn, and even now he says NO to help getting his citizens vaccinated because... well, just because he in is position to say NO.
Funny he can't tell the difference between a pharmacy and a "camp".
Anyway, it's at least some improvement from 2009 when the GOP insisted there is going to be Obama/FEMA concentration and re-education camps for conservatives. There was also supposed to be a Muslim takeover, communism, hyper inflation, food riots, depression, gun confiscations and many other things which never took place.
Good example of "disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing". I see him as a 1-term Gov in Florida.

Date: 29/1/21 03:57 (UTC)I remember those days very well; I had several people in my acquaintance back then who genuinely believed all of that.
IMO it's projection on the part of the right. They want to send LGBT+ people to re-education camps for conversion therapy; some of them even support the death penalty for LGBT+ people. A lot of them want forced fundamentalist Christianity and to live in a theocracy. So they think the left wants just as much totalitarianism as they would establish if they fully got their way.
(Arguably some left-identified people *do* - see also, tankies, one of my least favorite groups of people - but most of us liberals just want to be left alone to live our lives in peace. I don't want to send someone to a "re-education" camp if they find being LGBT+ distasteful, they can believe whatever they want in private, I don't need them to accept or like me, I just care about not being discriminated against in terms of housing, employment, health care, education, etc, I care about being able to marry whoever I want of legal age, and I care about not being attacked or threatened when I walk down the street. There is a difference between public actions and privately held beliefs.)
