https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/19/bolivia-election-exit-polls-suggest-thumping-win-evo-morales-party-luis-arce

Evo Morales's party has won a great big thumping victory at the polls, with his opponent conceding. There are multiple open questions here, like if the regime that replaced him really is fascist, are they going to accept that losing an election is losing power? If they fully are exactly what the "Hurka Durka Elon Musk Lithium" argument said, as opposed to a guy who had a third illegal term who tried to add a fourth in violation of a prohibition on the third that was rescinded by a stacked Court he appointed and filled full of his cronies much like Dorito Featherston is trying to do here, then the answer is "LOL no" and there will be a spectacular bloodbath and a complete collapse of the premise of Bolivian democracy and replacing one dictatorship with another.

If they do accept it, then it re-establishes a question of if it really was a case of Evo Morales replaced by an evil dictatorship, or if it was a bog-standard Pronunciamento that led to something more democratic in spite of itself, and to the reality that the global Left outside Latin America, which latches onto despotic personalities like a toothless bulldog will have to reconcile itself that rather than the bloody Leninism espoused by aspiring Barons Harkonnen on Twitter who have never seen a firearm, let alone have the slightest clue how to use one, elections still work and Leftism wins a complete and resounding triumph at the ballot box.

Will it have to accept that latching onto individuals who progressively adopt a more and more despotic approach to power is the exact mirror of the failure that made MAGA mentality what it is? That a political movement that professes democracy that runs to every tinpot Latin American caudillo and every dime store military junta in the Arab world and is almost entirely localized on Twitter is not in fact a reliable guide to understanding anything that matters?

Frankly I doubt it, though at least Bolivia gets a better ending than most given what usually happens in Latin America when one lawless clique replaces another and each of them screams about the malevolent shadow of the colossus of the north whether or not the current US bunch can count to 21 without dropping its pants  and if it does so, declares itself a very stable genius while wheezing like Immortan Joe from a preventable illness and high on steroids.

Tankies are the reason I feel the need to disclaim being leftist/socialist with "not a Communist" because... ugh. Yeah. Communism is not the solution to fix capitalism. People who think what's happening in Latin America is "good" need to have their head examined, I know people down there who are dealing with food shortages and stuff.

(I do joke about "fully automated luxury gay space communism" but that's different.)

Oh absolutely, it's been surreal to watch the tankies and their cognitive dissonance.
