That is such a mood... with me it's the Silmarillion, which is geeky even for Tolkien fans. Also my obsessive interest with history (yes, problematic history and all).

I get the geekiness thing. I get the shut-out-the-rest-of-the-world thing. I get the idea of minutiae and recondite knowledge; and I fully understand how to bore people to death with it - in fact I may be a master.

There is a spectrum and we are all on it. Somewhere.
