It seems that US consumers are making inflation a self-fulfilled prophecy. As long as they are buying like mad and supplies are low, prices will go up. It is how economics works. The US is a nation of instant gratification but the good news is they have a healthy economy that is capable of supplying what they need.
It's funny though that people are focusing on gasoline prices, their volatility really has little to do with inflation and they have gone up many times before only to settle down again. Gas prices also have been quite low during the pandemic and it is logical that they would increase.
