kiaaThis is just unbelievable. It's hard to understand just how bad this company has handled the trials and rollout of this vaccine - the entire year. Not sure why this isn't bigger news.
NIAID: AstraZeneca "may have included outdated information" on COVID vaccine
Amazing... what basically happened is that AZ used an outdated interim analysis for the topline number - just about the only one they released - of 79% efficacy.
The problem is that the data has been updated and not yet reported, showing a lower percentage. But AZ has the updated numbers, -just elected not to announce them, despite the DSMB (data safety monitoring board) strongly encouraging them to do so.
WHY would any company do this - unless the commercial/PR/marketing types steered them into it? Its a total PR disaster, and has undermined trust in both this vaccine and all of pharma.
