Skating away on thin ice, I'll dance a bit and point out it is Friday here. And we know what Friday means. It means we need moar racewank
By the grace of the gods, I found this in my inbox. Ironic: it is about a bidness in Midtown Manhattan and not Midtown Atlanta like the filter is supposed to filter, but gee, racism has a price in the workplace!

Circle Nightclub To Stop Discriminating Against Club-goers, Adopt New Admission Policies And Practices As Required By Law And Pay $20,000 In Penalties; Schneiderman: Businesses Cannot Refuse Entry On The Basis Of Race Or Ethnicity
(NEW YORK) Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced an agreement with the owners of Circle, a popular nightclub in midtown Manhattan, that will help ensure that consumers have equal access to New York’s businesses. After reviewing numerous complaints and conducting an investigation into Circle’s admissions policies and practices, the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Bureau concluded that the club was excluding customers on the basis of race and ethnicity. Under today’s agreement, Circle will adopt new policies that will help ensure that no patron is subject to discriminatory treatment and ensure the club complies fully with its obligations under state law.
Now, owning what the industry calls a mega nightclub myself that caters to about 50% people of colors, I pay close attention to such issues. There are a few alleged drug dealers I'd like to ban under the 'right to reserve service to anyone' rule, but naturally sensitive (ya think??) because coincidentally (ya think??) they happen to be people of various ethnicities.
( One would have to ask themselves "what kind of dumb ass white club owner would discriminate against people of color?" )
I am especially interested in the opinions of those who have expressed glee in the taking down of one B level celeb who should be equally outraged at this injustice. A robust discussion of this situation should be forthcoming.
My opinion? a $20K fine is a good way to get a business owner's attention that discriminating against blacks will NOT be tolerated.
