I think Max Wolfe is being clear and rather fair.

The outlook remains dire. What are we to do?

I predict after Christmas we'll see major changes. We went from the gold standard to fiat currency on a Christmas eve. Things the gov't want to hide from the public and the opposition are best left until the holidays.

we'll see major changes.

That prediction is so vague so at to be almost contentless. What kind of major changes, in government fiscal policy, in US dollar status, in the trade deficit? What?

Well, also note that the DOW is valued in USD. As the dollar loses value, as it has over the last few months (http://www.fxstreet.com/rates-charts/usdollar-index/), stocks will rise at least partly in virtue of that devaluation. If the dollar undergoes a monstrous collapse, the DOW numbers won't necessarily decrease, they may actually increase as a result. (of course, the *real* value of the DOW is a different story.)

We should at least try to get more $$$ out of other NATO members first...
if that fails, we should just nuke the entire area so that it doesn't look like bin Laden won.

We could also raise taxes to Reagan era levels... just say'n.

Is Obama's spending outpacing the lunatic sprees of the previous eight years?

And on point 2, do you want the Taliban to reassert themselves in Afghanistan?

I do like how conservatives have gone from 'questioning going to Iraq means you hate america' and 'wanting to get out is cutting and running' to 'we must abandon all wars nowwww!!! Afghanistan which not even liberals want out of too!!!'

Now, you think that they're just setting up so they can either go 'zomg u cut and runners we knew you hated america' or 'zomg look how much money liberals spend'

Only after a democrat is elected will you ever hear conservatives talk about defense spending, it's surreal.

It's going to be a bumpy ride no matter what happens, but the smart money says get out of stocks and into equities. I'm dumping all my money into futures. Oil is going to do nothing but go up long term. Gold is safe for now, but I'd watch for it to stabilize or even devalue some beginning late next summer. Oh, and foreign currencies, especially the euro. Once the dollar is finished collapsing, you can cash in your euros and live like a medieval king in the ruins of the former American empire. Good luck, ladies and gentlemen. You're going to need it.

Heck, it's only...

There are better things in life than having stuff and preparing to bomb Islam into oblivion.

Well you can't bomb them back to the stone age........

It all depends on what kind of stuff you are thinking of....

Stone ageism

At the time of the 9/11 bombing, Tamim Ansary pointed out that it would be impossible to bomb Afghanistan back to the Stone Age because it was already there. The Mujaheddin had already accomplished that goal.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
