Apparently Chipotle Mexican Grill, the popular fast-food chain, cannot stop their own downfall...

It all started when they decided to occupy the niche of fast, but healthy foods. So they started selling GMO-free products that were fresh, raw, without preservatives, hand-made, bio, organic, etc.

The big irony came when their entire restaurant network turned out a source of a series of bacterial and virus food infections. The company has been unable to restore its "health image" ever since. And the reason for all these nasty incidents all across the US is their food philosophy itself.

It's a fact that organic foods bear higher risk of spreading some infectious agents. The philosophy of fresh but raw food also increases the risk. Insufficient thermic processing of food products is dangerous, and avoiding preservatives as if they're some kind of poison, ultimately brings all these unpleasant results. Bad production hygiene is also a huge factor.

The morale of the story? Perhaps we should be a bit more skeptical when it comes to big soundbites about things being 100% safe and healthy.

How did a fast food mexican restaurant get a 'healthy' image in the first place?

It's Taco Bell with a buffet setting (even if it isn't technically a buffet - isn't the food out in the open?).

Blue Bell had similar problems (maybe the exact same problems, lysteria and/or salmonella?) - but after an intense 10 second google search it seems they aren't on the stock exchange - so I can't compare how much it hurt them. Then again, they're ice cream - much lower expectations for health standards - not low enough though, because they still haven't brought the Cookie Two Step back...

The Cookie Two Step? Dare I ask? it sounds like some really messy sex act from Urban Dictionary...

A creamy vanilla ice cream with hints of brown sugar, combined with chunks of chocolate crème filled cookies and tasty chocolate chip cookie dough pieces.

It was good enough where a little listeria almost seemed worth it...

Not as exciting as the messy sex act you were expecting, but you could use it as a prop in one if they bring it back!

"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
