People praying to Obama for the healthcare? First kids sing songs in school, now praying ceremonies... what's next? Is this something new in the American history? People singing songs and praying to a living and active President? I've been always taught that in the USA the President is truly first among equal and does not get any extra honors except respect.

I'm abomvubuso, one of your helpful mods. As a rule (Rule #8 as a matter of fact) we discourage posts that contain only a Youtube video and little or no commentary. Some call it the Link Without Opinions phenomenon. I generally call it "poor quality post". My point is, we're interested in your personal opinion and what you have to share (besides the video, of course.) If you're afraid to post because you're unsure some of your opinions might be met with criticism or mockery, dont worry - rest assured, anyone who trolls you for your political stances would be bopped on the side of the head with a lawnmower, as ghoststrider once said. On the other hand, criticism is part of the political discourse, so if you want real debate, be prepared for such.

So, as a community mod, i am politely asking you to add some real commentary below this video. Thank you in advance. :)

Not defending that NJ school, BUT Bush himself (ie. not some random schoolteacher) arranged a photo-op after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 in which schoolkids sang about how awesome America was and how great a job Bush cleaning up from Katrina.

Much like the ACORN flap, this is ultimately much ado about nothing.

The way you stated your opinion makes it sound like you're blaming Obama for what people do or think or say or believe. If there's people out there who are praying to Obama as though he's a god, that's entirely their problem. Obama didn't tell them to or encourage them to. Thus it's just a group of weirdos.. something not unheard of in America.

Should I mention that His Rotundity our second President tried very hard to make the President a king in all but name and that in modern times we have the ugly and blasphemous picture of Fundamentalists praying to a Bush icon? I mean seriously, this kind of ideal is even less likely to translate into reality than Communism.

That didn't look like a prayer meeting to me. It seemed more like a demonstration. If Obama were to actually carry our their calls for deliverance, he'd have to crack down on Glenn Beck and his white nation party.

BTW, I think it's interesting that attorneys use the word "pray" in requests to the bench.
