Well, I'd be thinking in terms of:
- Elected for life, to get around the chief complaint that positions shouldn't be hereditary. - Very limited constitutional power. Largely ceremonial, with perhaps veto. "This isn't in the long term interests of the country".
The second point is something I am thinking in terms of getting at least some policy thinking outside of the (three, four) year electoral cycle.
