...'Cause you are a truly terrible human being.

Trump says punish women for illegal abortions, then back-tracks
"Presidential candidate Donald Trump briefly called for "some form of punishment" for women who have abortions, if it became illegal. ... However, Mr Trump quickly reversed his position, saying only the person who performed the abortion should be punished."

That's right, Donald! Just who do these women think they are? Don't they know this is America, and we are supposed to make it Great Again!?

And this, of course, comes from the Republican presidential front-runner. A person whom a staggeringly large segment of the electorate favour to be their country's next leader, no matter how many lines he has crossed.

I am not sure he has ever considered the fact that if you force a woman to get a back-alley abortion or do it herself, you are essentially punishing her for getting an abortion. If you could somehow make legal abortion completely unavailable to all women, which we all know would never happen, you would essentially be punishing them for having sex at all.

What kind of sick bastard would come up with such an idea? And what sort of people would support such a sick bastard!?

By his logic, while he is trying to tell people what to do with their personal lives, he should also ban premarital and extramarital sex... but I am sure that does not align too nicely with his sexist agenda.

Frankly, anyone without a uterus should stay out of the decision process, unless they are directly connected to the woman in question.

I'm sure he didn't mean it.

I mean, the part after he decided to backtrack.

Pretty much this

Come on now. The man is "evolving" on the issue.

If something is illegal, participating in the act should call for punishment - I thought that was automatic. Whether it should be illegal or legal is, and always will be, up for debate.

I understand that certain topics, certain trigger words, like 'abortion' and 'Hitler' make everyones ears stand up - but with Trump - who constantly says crazy shit - I think it'd be better for the anti-Trump crowd to wait 5 more minutes until he says something that is undeniably crazy, instead of pouncing on every word he says - or eventually, if not already - they'll be lumped in with the crazies who are for everything he says without thinking.

Interesting. Why did Reasonable Donald reverse his position, then? If the woman participates in something illegal, why did he change his mind and now only wants to punish the one performing the abortion?

I don't know why he said what he did, or why he reversed it, or why , at this point, he does interviews at all. My point is, take abortion and Trump out of it:

If stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk were illegal, people who step on the cracks in the sidewalk should be punished.

If I say I believe that to be true, it doesn't mean I think stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk should be illegal.

So let's just all handwave the whole thing and move on like nothing had happened at all.
