and then they did this.... the usual feelings only, create own context of the healthcare debate instead of seeing the full picture, reforming the system, keeping the government out of it as that's what caused the problems in the first place... the signs all look the same and nowhere are the stories (like mine and so many) of how gov healthcare has screwed things up - military, VA, medicare, medicaid etc.

sigh... says she who is going to Mexico for elective surgery in Nov/Dec. for a fraction of the cost of the USA.

moveon.org is such a machine!

I'm probably the biggest R.E.M. fan in this community - you didn't know they were rabid leftists, really? They took out a full page ad for Dukakis in 88 for god's sake.

Why do you give a shit what they think about health care one way or another? They produce a good, music, and if you like it buy it, if not then don't. No one ever inquires as to the political positions of the checker at the grocery store, the person who cleans their teeth, or the sandwich artist at the subway.

Its no different the silly nonsense about the editorial the CEO of Wholefoods wrote.

How about in their personal time? I mean I can see not liking certain politically charged music if one dislikes the politics involved, but a singer or other celebrity has just as much a right to express their views and advocate for causes they support.

If I saw my dentist holding a sign on a street corner for a candidate I did not support I would not care one way or the other. Same if I saw him on tv giving an endorsement. Now if he insisted on telling about that candidate while giving me a checkup that would be different. In that case he would be forcing me to listen to his political views in a situation where I am not there for such things.

I think Arnold Schwarzenegger is a tool and Jerry Doyle is a nut, but I still like both of their acting, well only sometimes with Arnold...

As for Buckley I can't say I have a strong desire to go prowling about the internet for speeches. If you have a link I'll happily try and read it.

The government is not the problem. Entrusting care of the weak and the sick to organizations built on the profit motive has been the problem all along.

The only misses here come from you and your fellow sockpuppets.
To everyone else, it makes perfect sense.

I didn't say YOUR sock puppets.

I said your fellow sock puppets.

Thinktanks fist you all daily in order to squirt their spin onto the internet.

The only meds I take are a beer or two in the hour before bedtime.

Unless you count the occasional ibuprofen: I'll be 40 very soon, I work hard, I ache sometimes. Not today though, nice restful weekend. Aaaah.

That must surely be "fellas", Pluralwhat is the relevance of a remark like "A swing and a miss" be, except to provoke acrimony and display contempt for a members view? What is it's point otherwise?

It's to say he's wrong without starting a discussion unless they want to, since it's been discussed before and doesn't need to be gotten into again.

Are you going to argue that entrusting care of the weak and sick to organizations built on the election motive is not at least as bad?

Has it occurred to you that we advocates of a public option are going in with eyes open? We know what the costs are, & we believe this is better than the present system.

You say it's about feelings. Look at the stats. There are hard numbers here. It's the anti-tax crowd that is running on feelings.

Yes, we do think you have your eyes open, but we opponents of a public option believe that you are missing a whole lot of the picture and are missing why it won't work. The only reason that makes sense as to why that is the case is because your feelings are blinding you. Maybe there's another reason, but that's the most charitable.

You probably should still like them. They make music. If you don't like everybody who ever disagrees with your political views, you will be a very lonely person.

The whole point of democracy is that you can like someone while disagreeing with them. :P

I recommend you start listening to Lee Greenwood in that case, perhaps he's more your speed.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
