19/6/15 12:52How do you call the following syndrome? You go to someone who's been known as one of the best professionals in their field, and expect a good service. You soon realize they're in no way a good professional. But you keep going to them, just because most people keep going there, and they insist he's one of the best professionals. You're not happy at all with the service, but you still keep going, and you tell everybody who inquires about your impression that this is indeed the best professional in their field.
Is there a name for this (apart from "plain dumb")?

Date: 19/6/15 11:59 (UTC)I'd just quietly find a better professional. And, having found one, very very quietly recommend them to your most intimate acquaintances. No song and dance about it, no backstabbing or badmouthing. Just find yourself someone solidly competent and professional.

Date: 19/6/15 14:35 (UTC)Reminds me of a barbecue restaurant I live near - it's top 5, top 10, and maybe once or twice #1 in the country, in more than a few magazines and online polls. It's the first place anyone - even me, unless I stop and think about it - thinks of when an out-of-towner or new-in-towner wants a BBQ recommendation.
But....it just isn't that good....
