Isn't rather just a little ironic of a person of this background to be effectively calling for genocide and collective punishment?

What is it that lets people place their nationality, ethnicity, religion as being more important that what is common between all people?

I suppose the Zionist movement might have been born by Jews in the Russian sphere, but much of the heavy lifting, it seems to me, was done under the English and the Americans in making Israel finally happen. I don't question that there is a dark side to Israel, but in all fairness, there is a bad darkness against them as well. And there is more of a democratic spirit in Israel than among the Palestinians and much of their Muslim backers.

One of Israel's ongoing political problems is that in recent decades, it has been impossible for a mainstream political party to form a government without enlisting the aid of the smaller parties, many of whom are filled with the batcrap crazy, such as Ms. Shaked and her "The Jewish Home Party". Worse, they are given Ministerial Portfolios to get them on board.

Imagine in the United States if you not only had to caucus with Christine O'Donnell to form a government, but you had to make her Secretary of Transportation.

Israel will never get better until a group of moderate Likud join together with Yesh Atid, United Arab List, Kadima, Hatnuah, Meretz, Hadash, and Labor to form a "Coalition of the Sane" and tell everyone else to go get stuffed.

Weaselly words there. The article in question does not call for genocide, but rather for a total war between Israel and Palestine. Now whether total war can be justified is another question, and I think you can have a fair debate about it, but nowhere does the quoted article call for genocide. That is why you dropped that "effectively" in there. You can disagree with her position without torturing it into a more Buzzfeed worthy headline.

Also, the second quote is unrelated and comes from 1973. Despicable sentiments, truly, but David Hacohen died in 1984 and he hadn't been a member of the Knesset since 1969. And while we're speaking of acts that were "effectively" genocidal, Hacohen's comments came in the wake of the Yom Kippur War, in case we've forgotten what happened in 1973. If you had gone for something a little more 21st century it would have been more persuasive, I'm sure there is plenty bubbling around out there somewhere.

This kind of rhetorical slight of hand doesn't do your cause much good.

She declares the entire Palestinian people to be the enemy ... the enemy is usually an entire people, including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure and makes it supports the massive bombing of populated places.

It's the nature of politics, at its root. Most people play at politics and pretend desperately or ignorantly that it is something else than what it is. Politics is collective violence when it is married to a state. Collectivism is the mode of conflict, force and violence. Why should anyone be surprised when it's very flower, genocide, blooms?
