F--k you too, Ms Nuland

Notion: Vitali Klitschko becoming part of a new government in Ukraine?
Victoria Nuland: "I don't think it's necessary. I don't think it's a good idea".
Well, thanks, Ms Nuland, for deciding what's best for the Ukrainian people. Very much appreciated indeed. You know best, Ms Nuland.
Notion: Workable options should be sought to mend relations between the Ukrainian government and the protesters?
Victoria Nuland: "Would be great to help glue this thing and to have the UN help glue it. And you know - fuck the EU".
Well, fuck you too, Ms Nuland. If that's what US diplomacy boils down to, then really, fuck you. You, your superiors, and those who craft your policies and who so explicitly express them behind (supposedly) closed doors.
Oh, and while we're at it...
US State Department: "Leaking this nugget into the webspace is sooo so low of the Russians. A new low, really".
Yep. Shoot the messenger, right? Because the Russians are the evil ones who are not even shy enough to conceal their intentions to meddle into another country's affairs - but you are? Because the Russians are hypocrites enough to call the Europeans their friends while the mics are on, but then say "fuck them" while they're not listening? Really, fuck you, Ms Nuland.
Curious, the extent to which various US officials in public office seem to presume to be deciding how the next government of Ukraine should be looking like, the desires of the Ukrainians be damned. And not very surprisingly, quite an enlightening attestation as to exactly how the US feels about the EU, particularly in light of all the Snowden revelations (which of course are now a Russian conspiracy too - sounds very Putinesque an approach to having one's underwear exposed, indeed).
I think if anyone in Europe still believes the US is a friend and ally, they should go check themselves. There are no friends, just interests. Realpolitik at its best? Sure! But let's stop pretending one side's shit smells better than the other's, okay?
Btw, a curious change of tactic on part of the Russian intelligence services: now openly releasing leaks on Youtube. Has tovarisch Putin fallen prey to the social networks hype as well, mhmm?

Date: 10/2/14 09:19 (UTC)If the NSA spying on European leaders doesn't result in any real repercussions, then this bit here will go largely unnoticed. It's just par for the course of what goes on behind closed doors when the mics are off (or when these guys believe they're off).
Also, THANKS OBAMA! ;)

Date: 10/2/14 09:39 (UTC)There are increasing voices drawing dark scenarios in front of Ukraine. A possible splitting of the country won't be entirely an Ukrainian doing, though. Similarly to the open Chinese challenge to the US dominance in East Asia, Ukraine's splitting could drag a number of foreign powers into the bog, which would inevitably bring a strategic clash between them.
Only the Ukrainians can overcome this crisis. And any external intervention of any shape or form is both dangerous and provocative for Ukraine.

If that is not the case, then the speaker of that government should make it clear that they're distancing themselves from her words.
That's how basic diplomacy works in the civilized world.
