Whatever the Republicans do, you can be sure someone is saying the Democrats are doing the same thing. Even if there isn't an equivalence in reality conservatives press on about it ad nauseum until everyone else gives up and it's considered true. There always has to be an equivalence, that way the Republican party doesn't have any responsibilities.
