This video offers a handy illustration of the sheer power of public dissent. The Scott Walker administration in Wisconsin is so worried it's now reduced to arresting people for watching the demonstrations going on in the capital.

Yep, folks, here you have it. Conservative "small government" in action. You can be cuffed and marched away now for stopping and looking.

Arresting people for simply stopping and watching a demonstration is a bad thing.

It does not indicate an allegiance to "small government." In fact, it reveals the hypocrisy behind conservative claims about "small government"

And yet, apparently, powerful conservatives see nothing wrong or inconsistent about this.

Anyone here willing to defend Scott Walker's actions?

Please elaborate on your actual point within the next 1 hour, as is the usual requirement (http://talk-politics.livejournal.com/261191.html). Thanks in advance.

Wow. You waited a whole two hours before calling it. On a Sunday. With most of the regulars still caught up on the race post a few posts back.

Edit: Closer to five hours, but still. It's Sunday dude. This place is notably quite this late in the weekends anyway. All the attention is still on the other post.

When in line at the grocer, I saw the cover of her magazines had that mug plastered all over it. She looked a like a chubby 55 year old poorly photoshopped to look 39.

The smile and wide eyes was almost demonic

Did he order them arrested?

If he did, then the answer is "no", I don't agree with this.

And to clarify, I wouldn't agree with this regardless of who made the call.

There you have it, and answer of "No" from a self-professed small government guy, though I would certainly not profess myself as a conservative. Nor liberal or progressive either.

I'd hope a magistrate would release them immediately (if these folks were arrested, and the magistrate was smart).

Atlanta, that small corporate bastion of liberal Democratic common sense (sometimes), while surrounded by a sea of hillbilly conservatives is Capital City. We have gun nuts openly carrying at rallies, pot war protesters, supporters of indicted Rep Lewis and a governor so far right of Walker he should be playing first base instead of pitcher. From..the batters POV...anyway.. YOU KNOW. But we don't get this treatment here in backwater GA. Surprised?

Occupy camped out for a few weeks, before Liberal Mayor Kassim Reed cleared out Woodruff Park. Surprised?

The point? That sometimes, well, OFTEN some liberal types come off extremely rigid and generalizing when it comes to the GOP AND VICE VERSA. I get your point. You are angry. We all are angry. The video is egregious. I'd challenge you to post at least ONE thing you can find positive about a right wing politician, just to show you can. Unfortunately, I'm not sure you are willing or able to recognize the Duopoly that exists in today's politics.

George W. Bush did a pretty good job on aid to Africa.

Of course, some would have us believe that he wasn't right wing.

Now, wanna get back to the actual topic?

if i share a POV with someone else on a topic, and they are challenged on that topic,it 100% within reason for me to jump in on that topic.

its not channeling paft to agree with her sometimes.

If I ask a student to give an explanation of the causes of the Civil War, and before said student answers, another student jumps in and starts rattling off reasons, the chance for the original student is ruined, since they can take the easy way out and just parrot what the other student said.

Moreover, it's been more than a day and a half since rick_day asked her, so I doubt she will be forthcoming with anything anyways.

That is deflecting the argument because you didn't answer my question. Are you capable of researching and citing one good thing (in your subjective eyes) for America that a conservative right winger has done or was in charge of?

Back in the day when small government was truly king, the guy with the camera would have been bludgeoned by the cop. He should consider himself to be fortunate that Federal big government protections kept his skin intact.

As for prosecuting observers, I am reminded of a scene in Voltaire's Candide where an inquisitor ordered a young man to be flogged for listening to a blaspheming philosopher.

Hell yeah, arrest them for not participating. Get more people to get out there and be active. Overrun the streets with protests and let the chips fall as they will.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
