"Don't Mess with Texas...?" (NSFW)

So in honor of Friday, I'm posting this video with Lewis Black, a response to Governor Perry's recent ad campaign dissing places like Illinois, California, and New York.

I've never had much use for people who show their "love" of their country by getting a hate on about other regions, but given what's been going on in Texas recently, I'm on Lewis Black's side here. Yeah, there are people who find Texas a nice place to live, but as much as I like Austin and San Antonio, I don't see either city as a destination similar to, oh, say, San Francisco, or Chicago... Or the greatest, most diverse city in this country, New. YORK. CITY.

When I was a kid growing up in Louisiana, I didn't daydream about scraping off the swamp muck of southern Louisiana and moving to Dallas.

And yeah, those are all "typical" New Yorkers. Lots of different colors, languages, and foods there. I can see why some Texans would find that scary.

No, Perry just showed that Texans are so insecure about themselves that they need everyone to know how awesome they are. Here in Louisiana, we already know we're awesome and we don't need to go to Youtube to flail about it. :)

I don't always like Lewis Black, but that was good.

I keep hoping that Rick Perry campaign to try to lure business to Texas will backfire on him if he chooses to run for president in 2016. My thought is that it would make it harder for him to win Republican primaries in those states, since what he's doing is basically trying to threaten the local economy in those states. And I mean, especially after the recent abortion legislation, who the fuck would want to live in Texas? Come on.
