I am as heavily dismayed by the investment some seem to have made in the notion that Zimmerman can be properly declared a racist and what that implies about their affinities.
Zimmerman might be a racist. Martin may have been a punk. Neither supposition has any bearing on the court case in question. Nor should it. What truly dismays me is that so many people want the law, the state, the entire force and power of the government to validate their emotions. That way be dragons. The last thing we should desire is a justice system based on feelings.
