Oh, I'm sure that in some circles it has everything to do with racism. But we've been trying to establish whether this is the predominant way multiculturalism is being tackled, or the bulk of the criticism to multiculturalism is rather coming from social and economic standpoint. I mean, what's the bottom line of people not wanting more immigrants in their country? Is it a bigoted belief that "group X" is inferior to theirs (aka racism), or is it the selfish desire to keep their country to themselves? I'd rather prefer to believe that it's the latter, because the former would be impossible to deal with, whereas the latter could have some solutions.

Am I making at least a little sense here?
