I am coming at this from a completely different angle, essentially asking, "What he believes has been time and time again disproven, shown to be factually inaccurate, and as a theory—ie. model for organizing data in useful and especially in predictive manners—inferior in every way to stuff that actually works. I must ask myself what possible motive he has for adhering to his beliefs."
When one takes the psychology of hard-wired and reflexive disgust into account, some light is shed on this conundrum.
