"DAILY QUOTE:
"We might be up Shit Creek. This sure looks a lot like it, but we've never been here before, so this could also be Turd River, or Excrement Lake. Either way, the boat's leaking."
(a_new_machine)"

It's GOOD the boat is leaking, I say. We could've been already drown.
Where, for God's sake, you think, the Turd River or Excrement Lake are coming from???

A fiend of mine says our problems are mostly the result of our own efforts, folks.
QUOTE
take the so-called 'arab spring'. There were the 'dictatorships', we've been told. Okey-dokey. With Mubarack in Egypt the american flag hasn't been torn down from the embassy roof and fired. With Quaddaffi in place american ambassadors there were alive.

'If it's working don't touch it.'

I just wonder - who made the hole in our boat?

"What you do to yourself, no one else can do to you". - That proverb applies here pretty neatly, I think.

Oh, here's another one: "The more you stir the turd, the more it begins to stink".

Damn, folk wisdom! LOL.

I'm in no position to (mis)judge, since it was largely thanks to the efforts of the international community that the apartheid regime was finally brought down in my country. And I couldn't express my gratitude enough to the people around the world. I fear our guys would've never succeeded on their own.

There are causes that are just and worth fighting for, and intervening for. And then, there are just Realpolitik and economic and geopolitical interests. The trick is to distinguish which of the two ends where and gives way to the other.

Some daily-quotes carry more wisdom than Socrates and Kant combined, no? :-)

Well we don't want to shit in our own boat, so we throw our shit overboard. The fish don't like that, even though our shit makes up a small percentage of the shit they're living in.

So they start nibbling at the bottom of the boat, and we shoot at them. Oops.

Unless it's tilapia, in that case then they love it and want more of it and are eating the bottom of the boat to get to it aaaannnd... I don't know if this metaphor is going anywhere.

Wrong question. A better one would be, "Why did we build a leaky boat, and what are we doing in it?"

I've actually been trying to frame an analogy of our economic system based on how boats float. It's tricky.

"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all.
