The future development of the world, you say. Well, let's look back 100 years from now and see how it looked like back then.

How do you imagine it to look 100 years from now, but in the other direction?

The censorship on the 2012 porn depresses and angers me! ;)

There are a lot of reasons why reading as much history as I do means I love reading about the past but would never actually go there. The thought of the sanitation, smells, and general disorganization of a 1912 city makes me cringe so much even if I had the opportunity I would (wisely) refuse from taking it. I LOLed at the library one. XP

Oh, given the whole thing with how many surprises the future's held in the last two years? I wouldn't guess about the future, I'd be too likely to be proven wrong. ;P

Well, it's also the honest and humble version. :P OTOH, 1912 would have been equally incomprehensible to someone from 1812........

There's actually some pretty explicit vintage porn; I'm not sure about as far back as 1912 but from what I've read, hardcore porn has existed as long as photographic technology has existed (and in drawings before that, of course).

Here's one of the first hits for "19th century porn" (ABSOLUTELY NSFW):

According to my researches, that's not porn, that's a DILDO.

Or maybe both in one? Funny thing, if this was a dildo it would seem to either been for a man that likes to take it in the butt or a woman that likes to pleasure herself with another woman.

Some homo/bisexual was quite brilliant back in the day.

yup, one of the little curiosities they had back then that I'd like recreate one of these days is the Mutoscope, sort of a very early version of YouTube that sometimes turned into... well... XTube.

As I understand, laundry used to be very messy, dirty business and laundromats attracted a lot of immigrants because nobody else would do the work.

Note this is probably more like 1812 then 1912

Thanks to steampunk and certain hipster styles out there, 2012 fashion sometimes looks a lot like 1912

Gotta disagree on the porn thing. Porn was as raunchy, as explicit then as it is now. There are silent movies with anal, oral, animal, or any kind of sex one can imagine today. It was also underground and criminal to possess.

I stumbled upon an old book once, a collection of nude photos before 1920. I shoulda bought it.

Meh it's just that my grand-daughters are wandering around behind me fixing breakfast and I am forced to be at my kitchen table (long story)and your user pic doesn't come with a nsfw (or little kids) warning, but that's really my problem not yours ;)

I'm sorry, you never upset me, I have an ignore button :D

I read a more disturbing thought on the internet. Look at pornography back then and now. Then extrapolate it 100 years in the future

Nasty :(

Imagine the Disney movie of the future involving Ann Frank, the heroic Wehrmacht official (blond and blue-eyed, of course), her talking magical rat-friends, and the evil sorcerer villain who looks like an anti-Semitic archetype right out of Der Steurmer, set to rehashed tunes from Pocahontas.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
