"War & Peace"...

Lev Tolstoy should've written a sequel: "Sports & Entertainment". Would've been a bestseller!

Nothing like a little humor to start the day, and that was little enough (but it made me laugh :D)

I don't get it why would someone vote for all 10 options at once. Doesn't make any sense.

This particular Nokia model is the toughest thing I've ever seen. I've literally dropped it down the stairs, and it's still alive!

Also I like the Snake game!

Dude, that thing has a lid. Anything with a lid is easy to break. It has to have minimum surface, and no bendable parts.

Yes, I had one myself. Can't beat my Motorola T-180, though. Went through the washer and dryer, and still lasted another two years.

Not at all. There's a very simple trick to preventing water damage on electronics. A friend who worked at Nintendo taught me.

Electronics can get wet, as long as they aren't also powered. The key lies in thoroughly drying them before re-powering. After my phone went through the cycles, I pulled the battery and soaked it again in water mixed with 20% isopropyl alcohol for about an hour. The alcohol doesn't do anything during the soaking, but after I pull it from the rinse bath (to remove any soap that may have gathered on the electronics) alcohol, with its lower vapor temp, will more thoroughly remove the water. After letting it sit by a fan for a day in warm weather, I re-powered it. Worked fine for over a year, then started to deteriorate in the final year (but hey, it was old by that time anyhow). I still have it. The only thing wrong is iffy connectivity, probably due to antenna wear.

My buddy used to repair waranteed NES machines. If something happened to your game system, you just put it in a box and mailed it to Nintendo, US for repairs. The repairers got really good at checking postmarks before the cracked the case. New York City/ parts of New Jersey, maybe; anywhere in the deep south, could go either way; Florida, definitely. It was bath time.

They had a big sink in the shop. Fill it up. Dunk the game machine. A simple weight held it underwater. Sit. . . . Wait. . . . And watch the drowning cockroaches come pouring out. The biggest caught was over 2 inches; the record, 32 in one machine.

Roaches love electronics. Nice and warm. After a while, though, they get the contacts between the games and the machine dirty.

After that, the usual contact cleaning, then a final alcohol/water bath. That's where I learned the trick.

Someone told me they knew someone who in a fit of anger, threw one full tilt against a wall, and the only fallout was that the battery case and batteries fell out. Put them back in, worked like new.

Try that with an iPhone.

My iPad fell off the top of a moving car, and it still works. The screen is cracked enough to be mildly annoying.

So JUNE is Future Scenarios for World Development, eh?

Welp, gosh why all this focus on development when the topic should probably be sustainability?

What if we focused on developing sustainable communities? They don't pop into existence on their own.

sustainable communities! yeah, i use to belong to one of those.....really cool people there. we grew alfalfa sprouts, plums, and chives for the local farmer's market and even had some of our items for-sale at a local Jimbo's (kinda like a Whole-Foods store). so, count me in!

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
