One of the fallacies about finance is that it creates wealth. Physical wealth cannot be created without human activity. Financiers decide which types of activities will obtain funding and which will have to seek alternative means. What capitalism does well is to put physical wealth under the control of the people who did very little to actually create it in the first place.
The only wealth that is worth having is that which cannot be transferred.
