I apologizied for mistake I did in my previous post's poll about relations between russian's and western bloggers. Unfortunately I didn't test it and didn't took that poll himself, because I participated in russian part of poll.
Now I fixed the error and invite everyone to join.

Question is, what do Russians think about the rest of the world. Your last question is the most important I think. Because I've seen a lot of Russians saying online things like "Russia is coming back! We'll again be an empire! Welcome to our empire! That other empire is doomed to fail, so join our empire while you can!" Which makes me suspect that Russians still haven't gotten over the whole "empire" kinda thing.

My question to you is this: in your opinion, what part of the Russians still live in the 20th century, and what part are willing to move on and away from the Cold War?

I read that dialogue between you and Turus. I think he is kind of stupid.
If one decides judging on russian internet russian people still imperialistic or not probable around 80% yes.
But lot of russian people on internet not too intelligent. They just troll or fooling around.I think those who don't use social websites much friendly and less imperialistic.

Seeing the way most Russian bloggers behave on the non-Russian forums, I find it increasingly difficult to believe that they don't see everybody else as their enemy. And I tend to get bored with all that paranoia at some point (admittedly, it's initially amusing but when I realize they're soaked with it, I'd rather step away from those guys reeeeally slowly).

There's one more thing. The inferiority complex. OK we get it, Russia was great once upon a time, but it no longer is (however you define "greatness"). Get over it, do the damage control and move on. It's pointless to live in the past forever.

How do others see Russia? Depends who you ask exactly. If you ask a Spanish, they will probably say "Russia? It's a golden hen! All those tourists, they pay great money on our resorts!" And they would be happy.

If you ask a Polish, they would probably say "Russia? They tried to split my country to pieces... several times. I cannot trust them!" And they would be unhappy.

So you see, different people - different perspectives.

I'll repeat what I said the first time: I feel really, really sorry for the Russian people who suffered so much from such an abominable set of leaders. For Russian leaders, I'd just as soon gather them all from Rurik I to now and terminate with extreme prejudice as the appalling savagery they unleashed on their own subjects is something that is shameful and disgusting.

The propaganda in Russia has worsened since the Cold War. During the Cold War we’d been told that there were capitalists to hate in the USA and good poor simple people to sympathise. That the latter suffered exploited by the upper class and all they dreamed about was that Soviets would once come and set them free, that the Soviets possessed real freedom. As the war ended the ideology crash made it easy to build bridges on emotional level between simple Soviets and simple Americans sharing similar values. …… On the contrary nowadays they teach that the so called “American democracy” and those “values” is nothing but hypocrisy, that all Americans no matter rich or poor, simple or not, neither really share them on a broader scale internationally nor even within their own country, that all they want is to “print more money” and consume more than they are able to produce. That they support separatists everywhere in order to split the bigger nations and hook the weaker countries in order to benefit interest from them later. That they pursue aggressive foreign policy to gain control over oil and gas reserves. That they stand behind the Zionists if not the Zionists stand behind them. That is least to say…… The issue is there is no more class theory there; instead there is American mob presented just as mediocre as any other and that with abusive interests! …….. Agree that this kind of bias is much harder to dismantle that the former. ……….

Now, what the Russians think. I am Russian. I don’t get paid by the Zionists nor am I such. I sincerely consider the USA friend and ally of Russia. I do like Americans and the USA a lot (as well as Israel). But I can provide a testament based on the following:

- The United Russia “party of power” received minimum from 27 (to 36) % of the votes on the 4th of December 2011 – USA-hostile!
- The Communist party of Russia received at minimum 20% of the votes - very USA-hostile!
- The Liberal-Democratic (at the core - nationalistic) party received at minimum 12 (to 20) % of the votes – very USA-hostile. ……..

All the three are clearly: pro-Ahmadinedzhad + pro Hugo Chaves + pro Lukashenka + pro North Korea + pro the USSR. 27% + 20% + 12% accounts to more than a half of the Russian voters, whether you like it or not.

We'd rather be aware of it. Sorry for trolling the community with too many words and letters this time.

I work with Russian people, both in the building where I work and with other colleagues in Novosibirsk. People everywhere are people. Some are wicked and some are benevolent. None are perfect. Governments are a consequence of the failure of our collective imaginations, our inability to think of any better way to solve complex social problems with the tools and resources that are at hand, and are also the products of questionable premises. I've got nothing against the Russian people. I'm all in favor of American people freely trading and exchanging social and commercial goods, services, and cultural amenities with one another. I think these are things to be encouraged. I think that the U.S. government has no business meddling in the internal affairs of the Russian government and of the Russian people.

i love Russia so much, i love the culture etc. i actually feel that if things go bad here in America, i will actually move to Russia. idk why, i just will. especially because i feel, if Russia gets into any war, which i hope not, nor any other country, but if it does, i will feel better being on Russia's side...the have never been conquered, napoleon couldn't, Hitler also could not. idk just my opinion, i love Russia a lot..and its vodka.
