Oh, and for anything to discuss -- do the stringent gun laws in Great Britain actually work as evidenced by the fact that this foul-mouth, pig-headed bigot feels entirely safe to rant like this on a crowded train full of the people she hates and does not appear to be afraid of being shot?

Date: 3/12/11 01:18 (UTC)If 28 gun crimes are committed in the UK per day (from your 2008 article), then it is still highly preferable to 40-60 times more in the US.
And the US is fourth in the world when it comes to gun murders. In the UK gun crimes (any crime, fatal or not) is between 0.3% and 0.5% in the US fatal gun crime, not counting any other gun crimes, is well above 3%.
Way to cherrypick your "facts". Also, you should probably note that gun crime has decreased in the UK since 2008 (when your article is from), some say the spike had specific connections to a drug crime situation at that time, other inclinations support situations in Northern Ireland.
While the UK has strict gun laws, it is by no means "forbidden" to own a gun. It can't be fully automatic and it has to be licensed though. So you saying the government "took it away" is also rather meaningless.

I found thorough numbers and facts in this report (http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/science-research-statistics/research-statistics/crime-research/hosb1011/hosb1011snr?view=Binary), but not your exact numbers. So if you could just show me the UK equivalent to what you're claiming.
