Well I have to put up with the Dutch, but I like to bash the French. Have you ever sat down in a Parisian bistro? The waiters are like relics from the 19th century. One time in a cafe near the Eiffel tower, the chief waiter with the funniest waxed moustache and the fruitiest mannerisms. the guy takes an eon to come to my table, I order a beer and the dude starts telling me that I had to order food if I was sitting down at a table, and that's "how it's done in Paris". WTFuuuuuu? I told him I'm American and that he would be having a nice German chat if it wasn't for our saving their worthless asses. Then I ordered some nice butter-fried snails and choucroute and contemplated the stinking cheese monkey-butt waiter and his goddamn Delacroix 'stache. What a bunch of socialist frogs. Why do I keep going there on vacation!

Because you love it? :-)

I watched Midnight In Paris (Woody Allen), and one thing I couldn't get. Those characters never stopped repeating how awesome Paris is, but they never explained what is so awesome about it... I remain confused.

It didn't feel exactly that way, but yes, that movie was pretty hilarious. :-)

The Narnian method of picking monarchs by divine intervention, and then relying on god to come steer them the right way should they govern badly, is inherently flawed and puts all emphasis on the personal life of the ruler, reducing all citizens to background characters in their own kingdom.

Am I doing it right?

I come from the US. We have no ideas left. Seriously. We used them all up. Now all we have are sequels, reboots, reinventing the conference room (we call them "collaboration zones" now), and generally dicking around and wasting everyone's time and money. When people mean "innovation", they just mean "how can we repackage this?" When people mean "inventive", they just mean "what else could this possibly be used for, regardless of how insane it would be?"

It's gotten so bad we invent terms like "Web 2.0" or "cloud computing", which is just, you know, as it stands, putting stuff on servers... which we've been doing for three decades... but you know, marketing is the last and only industry left for our dead and stupid economy.

Americans love euphemistic bullshit language. It helps us sleep better at night. We're sort of like the stereotypical housewife who puts on a wide and happy smile to hide a life of quiet desperation.

those who actually bash their own country. That's not so easy, is it?

It really is not, especially when it's SO PERFECT! Haha. ;)

I promise to try not to bash America. Well, maybe just parts of it, like Detroit. But that doesn't count, since everyone bashes Destroit. It's like the France of America.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
