So LJ was down for most of this week. You sit at the PC and you try to log on to your favestest blog hosting website. But -BAM!- that goat keeps staring at you from the screen.

But since you're already seated at the PC, you've got to do something anyway.

Given that right now is one of the busiest times of the year for me here at work, as we performance test our servers to make sure they can handle the load of Open Enrollment season**, so I didn't really miss the downtime so much because I spent most of it generating test data, writing automated test scripts, and arguing with out infratructure team about why their idiotic security rules weren't securing anything (I have enough access to the right systems already to be able to steal any data I wanted pretty much any time I wanted) but were preventing me from doing my job the right way.


**= for those not in the states, here with most health insurance provided by employers there is a time in every year that is set aside to make your choices for which health care plans offered by your employer that you will enroll in (as well as make other benefits choices), typically that time lasts for 2 weeks somewhere between September and November. My company manages that process for other companies and so we get a huge boost in traffic to our servers during those 3 months (like from less than 300 concurrent users at peak to possibly as many as 4500 concurrent)

What's your opinion of AW after researching? I got introduced to her 2 years ago. I had heard Rehab and was not impressed, then I heard her other two albums and afterwards asked "WTF was that???" When I was told it was the Rehab chick I was shocked. True talent wading in a sea of vacuous crap.

My initial impression of her was from watching a video of Tears Dry on Their Own. Since the video was lip-synched, I wondered if her voice was not her own. I thought of the case of Black Box where an Italian woman lip-synched to the work of an African American woman. Further research gave me a more favorable impression of her abilities and the authenticity of her voice. I am sorry that I did not come across her work earlier. It is also a shame that she did not recover from the abyss of substance abuse. She could have had a long and prosperous musical career.
