2010 Midterm Election - * * * O P E N T H R E A D * * *

Open thread for following the election results tonight. Several states results maybe cliff hangers and go into recounts (e.g. Washington, Nevada, and Alaska). It should be a wild and bumpy ride tonight. And of course, you're welcomed to participate in a live chat on Efnet IRC #talk_politics. Efnet org has an easy java script client to join the channel, or use other clients.

First bit of news: ABC News has fired Andrew Brietbart from its election coverage tonight.

It's funny, because, you know, veto.

Go ahead. Shut down the government. Worked GREAT for Newt.

I kinda wanted her to win just for the lulz.

I'm confused. I thought the Tea Party was going to win, but all I'm hearing about are Democrats and Republicans.

There's a slight problem here: calling elections on exit polls before any precints report is seldom a good idea, it tends to lead to the Dewey defeats Truman phenomenon.

Means Palin's dead as a political force. She lost the Republicans what should have been an easy-peasy win. No doubt the Palin zombies will claim it was the fault of the big bad Republican establishment but no, this was entirely the creation of that idiot from the North. Now, if only Murkowski wins in Alaska....

Wanton headstomping of leftists is still uncalled for regardless of whether or not they're in charge, and no matter how tempting it can be at times. Even if they'd do it to us, given the chance.

Your'e not funny. Go away.

[identity profile] underlankers.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
That idiot from Alaska has officially cost the GOP what was supposedly a shoe-in earlier on. The Tea Party's going to be coming apart after this election, as Paul and Rubio winning isn't going to negate the O'Donnell loss. The Palin machine is dead.

I wonder what happens when the Wicked Witch of the East discovers the existence of Rule 34?

Be nice. Don't bust Steve's fantasy bubble. ;)

Your hatred of Palin has removed any sort of objectivity you might have had.

[identity profile] underlankers.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
She was the one that replaced a shoe-in victor with one of the biggest losses of the election.

Not really. The Palin backed Kelly Ayotte won here in NH.

Projection much?

I'm no Palin defender, but your logic is... lacking.

Obama backed the democratic candidates in NJ and Mass to failure, and that doesn't mean he's dead as a political force, does it?

Aqua Buddha delivers!

[identity profile] reality-hammer.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I disagree. Her influence is within the Republican Party and Alaska. What candidates backed by her do in an election is largely up to them. It's not like Palin led her around by the hand for six months.
