Open thread for following the election results tonight. Several states results maybe cliff hangers and go into recounts (e.g. Washington, Nevada, and Alaska). It should be a wild and bumpy ride tonight. And of course, you're welcomed to participate in a live chat on Efnet IRC #talk_politics. First bit of news: ABC News has fired Andrew Brietbart from its election coverage tonight.

There's a slight problem here: calling elections on exit polls before any precints report is seldom a good idea, it tends to lead to the Dewey defeats Truman phenomenon.

That idiot from Alaska has officially cost the GOP what was supposedly a shoe-in earlier on. The Tea Party's going to be coming apart after this election, as Paul and Rubio winning isn't going to negate the O'Donnell loss. The Palin machine is dead.

I disagree. Her influence is within the Republican Party and Alaska. What candidates backed by her do in an election is largely up to them. It's not like Palin led her around by the hand for six months.
