Southern trees are bearing strange fruit again:

This, my friends, is what calling the census an attempt to brainwash children and implying the all-powerful US government is a direct threat to your precious bodily fluids reaps.

I hope Bachmann is happy now, as she's getting her wish. This poor man is a victim of the fearmongering the Radicals have sown. There's a certain quote by a certain man that's worth quoting here: "If you say for years that the Jews are not even human and that Russians are subhuman, such an explosion is inevitable." It is in that sense that Bachmann's fearmongering is directly responsible for this man's death. Shame on the Radical Right.

No, my dear. I just meant your line has earned its place in the List of Daily Quotes (http://community.livejournal.com/talk_politics/22287.html). It doesnt necessarily have to be a funny line, to achieve that. Only... memorable.

*shrug* I still don't get it. But anyway, my point is that usually when people kill in order to protect their illicit livelihood, they are pretty discreet about it. Maybe pot growers are more brazen in that part of the country, but hanging a body from a tree and writing on it does have undeniable political overtones.

Pot growers are not a celebrated group of people with a long history of rebel attitudes like illicit whiskey distillers are, so it's not that comparable.

they are exactly that, as a matter of fact.

I've lived in a major city in California for almost 20 years, and while smoking pot is glorified, growers are not.

Ah, I see! That makes it perfectly alright then. I mean, they'd be risking their fine reputation if they didn't find somebody to lynch now and then.

That whooshing sound was the point going over your head.

I know I sidestepped your point. I do not know as much as exiledv2 down thread (http://community.livejournal.com/talk_politics/241131.html?thread=15013099#t15013099). I just thought your turn of phrase was funny. :)

Any serious grow-op is done indoors, under strictly controlled conditions, which produce maximum results, and more to your point, safely away from "stumble-upons"

Maybe in Canada.

They go for quantity in Calif :D
Heck, the fire fighters here are always in danger of contact highs. Seriously, I couldn't see the link, but it is a serious problem both in Northern and Southern California.
