I, like many others, can never get enough Weiner

Anthony Weiner is just another garden-variety scumbag with absolutely no personal integrity.

The question I would like to ask is whether we should really care about this?  That is, given the choice, would we rather have people in government who are garden-variety scumbags -- but who advocate for policies that we believe optimally serve the interests of the citizenry -- or people who have high moral character, but are incompetent at governing and/or are completely wrong-headed when it comes to public policy?

My own sense is that I'd rather have someone skim half a million from the public coffers and make decisions that save us billions than someone who is squeaky clean -- but whose incompetence undermines justice and prudence.

Unfortunately she cannot run for president since she has spent most of the last 5 years abroad, obviously because she works at the European Commission, and the World Bank before that.

On the other hand, our president is mostly a figurehead, so she might be far more useful where she is at the moment. People deeply admire her and they feel kinda sad because of the fact that there are just 2-3 politicians like her here (the other is Meglena Kuneva (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meglena_Kuneva), who'll fortunately run for president).

There are many good congress members and local politicians in the USA who refuse to run for higher office for this very reason--because they know they can accomplish a great deal more on the local level.

HAH! It's not going to happen in my lifetime, I'm afraid. The USA elected an African-American president rather than have a female one--and look how they've treated him. And it's certainly not going to happen while I'm still making between 69 - 72¢ for every dollar a man makes.

I think most major political forces here have come to the conclusion it's time we had a female president. The question now is, which one. We have several awesome candidates which is kind of surprising, given the general low quality of our politicians. Maybe because those two ladies have spent most of their career working at international institutions so they haven't had too much chance to get all muddy. They will.

Unfortunately, for the GOP the "which one" is Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann or others of that ilk which both disgusts and frightens me--because it may very well come true. And the last thing I'm interested in seeing is these morons being touted as "all-American family-values housewives" against "evil, feminist, man-hating" Democrats, which I'm sure is the tactic the GOP would foster and the press blindly follow. And since the Democrats have presented no female candidate whatsoever, I'd rather not see a woman become president of the USA at this time.

No, thank you. All I can say is if Sarah Palin is elected president, this Jew is moving to Germany, where at least she'll get national healthcare.
