Where's Waldo?

Where's Waldo? And by that I mean, find the black people at Glen Beck's Rally.

It's a fun game and you can play it with all the photos I found on http://dc.about.com/od/protestsandrallies/ss/Glen-Beck-Rally-Pictures.htm

In case you need a clue, there is one gentleman in the upper left-center wearing a badge, presumably telling the white woman where to find the restroom.

My bad. You're not a racist, you're a racialist.

racialist - An emphasis on race or racial considerations, as in determining policy or interpreting events. [Source] (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/racialist)

Your argument is that because there weren't as many people of color at Beck's event as were at Sharpton's, then Beck is a racist.

The transcript for the ENTIRE Beck rally is here: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/295231-1
If you could go through it and point out specific points of clear racism, your argument would be valid. Otherwise, you're just talking out of your ass.

Suppose it had been a group of almost exclusively native American people saying "We want to take America back."

if they carried the same message as Beck's rally, what difference would it make?

you apparently don't understand the message of beck's rally. did you even watch it?

Some being what? 5 minutes?

It's ignorant to speak about something you know little to nothing about.

funny that MLK's niece, also spoke at the rally. OMG RACISM!!!!

[identity profile] whoasksfinds.livejournal.com 2010-08-30 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
a bunch of people get together to talk about white unity, and their guest speakers include MLK's niece, a black preacher, and an athlete from the Domincan Republic. They also include snippets from MLK's famous speech in the rally.

yes, you are incredibly ignorant and desperate.

Yes, you are being a racialist. You're trying to point out the lack of people of color at Beck's rally somehow speaks about the race relations of the entire group in attendance - putting emphasis on race to interpret the event.

One of the great points Glenn Beck made is that MLK said people should be judged by their character and not the color of their skin. That's what he means when he talks about "reclaiming civil rights". Look up the definition of term. It's not even about color! It's the right to equal treatment of ALL people.

[identity profile] dreadfulpenny81.livejournal.com 2010-08-30 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, ignoring race means treating people for who they are and what they do, not the color of their skin. Should we forget how people have been treated in the past? Absolutely not! But we need to move to a point where people are colorblind to race. Continually pointing it out doesn't do that.

[identity profile] dreadfulpenny81.livejournal.com 2010-08-30 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. And I already made the point clear that color should be ignored but not actions. I'm glad we see eye to eye.
