Russian orthodoxe church

Just now russian officials are talking about church in schoole. Many russian orthodoxes want church to be in schole, but Russia is the country with many religions. So they decided to study in schole different religions and not as religions, but as culture. And yet we have "Basis of orthodoxe culture". This is an experience to study religion in irreligious society. I have up my mind and i think there is no point in arguing. It is very interesting and useful idea.

I'm not a believer myself, but I agree that students should get at least some basic education about the religions around them.

You mean like the Orthodox Jews who opposed Zionism on the grounds that it was blasphemy.

Would a possible solution be for representatives from each faith come to the classrooms and teach about their own religions?

Yes, at least to understand what pictures in great museums talk about.

I've read in other comments about this concern, but I was thinking more about fostering understanding between living people who practice their religions.

I wasn't able to watch the video. My Russian is limited to only six words, if I can still remember all of them! I wish I knew more. Is the concern that religion will be reduced to a historical artifact directly related to something in the textbook, or is this going to be a problem any time religion is taught in school?
