Thoughts

My standards for a successful state include:

* It must follow its own rules consistently.

* It must meet most of the needs of most of its citizens most of the time.

* It must provide enough security that cizitens can normally go about their lives safe from threats foreign or domestic.

By these standards, the United States is a failed state.
