This is interesting! In a surprising move, Albania plans to create a liberal Muslim microstate, the Sovereign State of the Bektashi Order. Led by Baba Mondi, it will allow alcohol, freedom of dress, and no strict rules. Located in Tirana, it will be the smallest country in the world, a quarter the size of the Vatican.
Experts are drafting legislation to define its sovereign status, pending parliamentary approval. The goal: to promote a tolerant and modern version of Islam.
