With what army? The US Army of 1939 was a joke because Americans thought soldiers were un-American menaces to a real Republic and annihilated the soul of any state that had a peacetime standing army. Don't forget that isolationism was real, white, and conservative prior to 1941 and often wore Jew-hating guises.
