Let's try that one more time-Oh, for the ability to believe that Obama is in any way a social reformer, as I would sincerely love to believe it.

Obama's proven his Christian credentials by this to the Religious Right, surely? After all, the only thing it cares about is teh Ghey, right?

Well, I have a tendency to see a very big difference between black people being lynched and hanging from trees and gays merely not being able to legally marry. I would not make parallels between the two. I hope Obama would not, either, despite the social pressure which attempts to convince us that gay marriage is an important issue, when it really is not.

I don't happen to see much difference given the phenomenon of gay-bashing, but then again it's less flashy to beat a queer to a bloody pulp than to string him to a tree and burn the corpse.
