It is what socialism has produced, but Christianity has also produced the Inquisition. Neither of these outcomes is inevitable, though.

I would agree that being middle class exposes one the the danger of naivety in what goes on in the world, and some middle class people seem to think that poverty and deprivation will automatically trun people criminal, so all we have to do is make people richer and all will be well.
