I think the gist of my argument is that, ultimately, trolling is a religion unto itself. Getting in people's faces when their expectations of you are unrealistic, to some people, is an expression of something just as sacred to them.
Maybe your 'tribe' isn't just defined socioeconomically. I think part of our shared 'cultural identity' is that we belong to a class of people who can perceive why this kind of behaviour is unhelpful.
