I think you're arguing at the wrong point of failure of the system. The reason more minority kids get sentenced for horrible crimes is because people in poverty are more likely to join gangs and do horrible things. Once they're in the gang slinging crack and shooting people, we've already failed though.

It's not a sentencing problem, it's a poverty problem.
