I'm not sure it is the same. With advances in technology we are able to communicate quicker/farther than those who came before us.
Facebook could organize a million college protesters against the draft very quickly.
That simply wasn't possible during Vietnam.
But I agree, we aren't any better or worse suited for regimentation than they were.
